💪 Listen to the Community. Empower the Community. How often do we see public spaces left neglected for years? What does it take to bring them back to life? 🇮🇹 In Rome’s Torpignattara neighbourhood, the local community reclaimed an unused area above a parking lot—and they did it together! Residents, schools, artists, architects, and local committees joined project PLATEIA and shared their ideas and priorities. 🙋Through visioning labs, design-thinking workshops, and co-creation sessions they explored new, innovative ways to regenerate public space. More than just renovating a physical space, this project made community members reconnect with 🐝 nature, culture, and beauty, and contribute to a better urban landscape. PLATEIA was designed by Fondazione Bertugno-Moulinier in partnership with Ecomuseo Casilino, Associazione Pisacane Scuola 0-99, the orizzontale architects’ collective, and Rome’s Municipality V. The project is part of 🇪🇺 EIT Co-create NEB, a call to develop long-term solutions that match the needs of local communities in line with the New European Bauhaus.
